Medical Science and Mystery on "Dr. G: Medical Examiner"

Thanks for the guest post by Dave Myers

I have always been interested in biology and the medical field, but didn't have the drive (or the strong stomach) to turn it into my career, so I get my medical science fix from watching "Dr. G: Medical Examiner." Dr. G. is a coroner who tries to discover the cause of death of various individuals who become deceased in her county. There is a touch of mystery as she follows the clues in police or hospital reports, conducts her own autopsies and waits for results from blood tests or other tests.

Different types of injuries and illnesses and the medical signs of each are discussed and shown in different ways -- through recreations that act out symptoms, microscopic slides that show abnormalities, and so on. Dr. G. describes what she looks for and discovers, and her theory of how or why someone died adapts as she gets more pieces of evidence.

So, the science is laid out for you and so is the thought process that leads to her final results. Dr. G. must also sometimes dip into the deceased person's life story to discover his cause of death as she helps bring closure to his family through ultimately informing them of her findings. I used to watch "Dr. G: Medical Examiner" on the Discovery Health Channel.

But now that Discovery Health has changed into OWN, I watch Dr. G. on http://www.tvbydirect.com.
